Ottawa WordPress site design, set up and training

As of March 2012 we are getting ready to launch three more WordPress sites for clients (one for a well-known Ottawa women’s clothing boutique, and a third for a mathematics software solution for elementary schools). Stay tuned.

Website design for Peggy Brown by Foil Media

Peggy Brown is an Integral Coach based in Ottawa. Integral CoachingĀ® is a comprehensive coaching methodology used to bring about sustainable change. Through a comprehensive understanding of a client’s unique way of relating to their problem or topic, Peggy creates an effective coaching program.

Peggy’s site is a great example of how to take advantage of the super-fast development environment offered by WordPress.com. Already in possession of a domain name and ready to move quickly, Peggy needed a simple brochure site up as quickly as possible. Using the graphical assets already developed for her business identity, we were able to select a theme, do some simple customization, develop and get content in place in just a couple of days. We met an important business milestone and Peggy can now take her time in terms of assessing the site and how she wants to grow it over time.

WordPress website for Voice Emergent developed by Ottawa's Foil Media

Barclay McMillan of Voice Emergent has been creating opportunities for people to discover, or recover, their singing voices and explore them in a context of healing and well-being since 1991. He offers courses and singing gatherings in Ottawa.

A Foil Media client since 2005, Barclay moved onto the WordPress.com platform in 2011 with our guidance and design services; we also handled all content migration from his old, conventionally built website (which, incidentally, has always been one of the most popular in our custom portfolio).

The WordPress platform is a great fit for Barclay, as it offers easy updating for the new offerings and classes that he frequently has to share with his audience, and allows for smooth social media integration.

J & L Mobile Welding of Almonte offers mobile welding and shop welding services to clients across the Ottawa region.

In early 2012 the business was ready for a new identity and a first website. The WordPress platform appealed to this client as a great way to get started on the web, and offered some nice features, such as a photo gallery of work undertaken by the company.

Foil Media created a first website presence for this mobile welding business using WordPress in January 2012.

WordPress site for Pascale's All Natural Ice Cream

Pascale’s All Natural Ice Cream is lovingly made by Pascale Berthiaume of Ottawa. It has quickly become a success story on the local food scene.

Pascale was ready for a new website that she could manage herself; she frequently has news and offerings that she wants to share, but going the traditional route with a website development can be relatively costly. A WordPress blog was just the thing for Pascale.

Foil Media advised Pascale on this new web format, set-up the site, and provided content guidance. We also provided the necessary orientation to allow Pascale to feel comfortable with managing her own site.

Now Pascale is free to focus on what she does well and grow her business, with an easy to manage website as a tool at her side.

WordPress site for JB Arts of Almonte, Ontario

JB Arts is a new arts studio in Almonte offering art classes, summer camps, birthday parties and educational programming. Owner Jeff Banks has transferred his very successful business from Oakville to Almonte and is quickly establishing his studio on the local scene.

We worked with Jeff in 2011 to develop a simple but highly flexible website in WordPress that would allow him to frequently post news, upcoming classes and events and growing photo galleries of artworks created at the studio.

Foil Media worked with Jeff to establish a site architecture, set up the new WordPress site, including all permanent pages and content, and prepared the site for handover. We also handled domain pointing and provided an orientation session and support as Jeff got comfortable with using the WordPress dashboard to maintain the site on his own.

With his newsy, colourful site – jam packed with information about his services and programs – Jeff has quickly become a great example of how beneficial a site like this can be to a business owner with lots to share.

Website for Successful Transitional Avenues for Youth in Lanark County

Successful Transitional Avenues for Youth (STAY) is a start-up charity looking to address youth homelessness in Lanark County, Ontario. As for many small nonprofits, the need for a web presence and a limited budget seemed a challenge, until we were able to suggest WordPress. Rapid development and an easy to use CMS made this the perfect choice for STAY.

Foil Media donated its time to help STAY get a simple first web presence in place to support its early efforts in building profile and getting local people involved in its work. We handled all account and site set-up, provided guidance on site architecture and content, sourced royalty-free photography, created some simple graphics, and assisted with getting online donations in place through the CanadaHelps portal.

WordPress blog for H2O: Ideas & Action for Canada's Water

This WordPress-based blog was developed as part of the Foundations in the Lake Winnipeg Watershed Initiative (LWWI) which is a project of Community Foundations of Canada.

Foil Media worked closely with CFC staff in 2010 to establish a blog that could be updated regularly by an in-house consultant.
